In 1980 both Derrick Carter-Clout and Paul Shirville retired aged 60, leaving Bob Taylor as the company's MD. Sadly the sudden and unexpected death of Bob in 1982, aged 48, left a void which was filled by the founders handing over the MD's responsibilities to their respective sons Anthony Carter-Clout and Graham Shirville.

1983 saw Paul Shirville develop a bespoke computer aided scheduling service which provided specifiers and contractors with a door-by-door ironmongery specification, a consolidated schedule and masterkey details - a first within the industry! The original software has been upgraded and enhanced to provide the service that is available today.

The mid 1980s saw a huge growth in sales to the Middle East, notably Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and the UAE. Allgood was supported by a large number of UK architects working locally on major public and commercial projects.

In 1986, Allgood set up its Security Hardware division, seeing the opportunity to increase sales by supplying access control and electric locking devices for the same projects to which they were supplying ironmongery.

In the same year, the company expanded with the opening of an office in Manchester, and in 1989 there followed a new regional office in Glasgow.

Another notable industry first was the introduction in 1987 of a comprehensive 10 year product warranty, the ultimate sign of the company's commitment to its products.

In 1988, the expansion of the company led to the need for extra office space in London and Lanchester and Lodge Architects designed the development and added two floors on top of the building at 297 Euston Road. The roof car park had to go.
