The 1970s saw the start of the ongoing product development
within Modric, including the introduction high performance
hinges, locks and door closers. Modric commenced its development
towards becoming the world's most comprehensive range of visual
and mechanical hardware available from a single producer.
The main Modric catalogue was an A1 size wallchart which soon
became Allgood's trademark with customers.
At this time the code numbers ran from A1 to A10,000 (A10,000
being coffin handles). Derrick Carter-Clout was always remembered
for saying, "These should see us out!" The Modric Spectra
colour range which was originally introduced with 12 colours
was expanded to 365 colours - one for each day of the year!
During this decade Allgood also started its export activities
into The Middle East, Japan and the USA by establishing new
overseas distributors and supporting them with extensive overseas
trips.
In 1972, 12 years after selling Allgood to Union Corporation,
Derrick Carter-Clout and Paul Shirville bought the company
back and regained their independence.
